This, and the AI-s 58mm f/1.2 NOCT are Nikon's only fixed 50mm lenses with 9 blades. The earlier AI (pre AI-s or pre-1981) 50mm f/1.2 AI and 58mm f/1.2 AI Noct only have 7 blades. All other Nikon 50mm, 55mm and 58mm lenses, regardless of age, also only have 7 blades. (Some of the earliest Nikkors only had 6 blades.)
